What is Culture? What is my Culture

Definition of Culture
the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.
that which is excellent in the arts, manners, etc.
a particular form or stage of civilization, as that of a certain nation or period

Here is how I see American culture.  It is mainly focused around social media, especially for people in high school.  Most people use Snapchat, Groupme, and Instagram to communicate with on another without being near them.  American entertainment is centered around Netflix, which is the topic of many conversations around the country.  People become infatuated with the shows and is becomes part of their lives.  This is also true for American football, so on Saturdays during college football season, the country binds together to watch football in small homes, and large stadiums all over the country.  That is the basis of American culture.

When I went to Berkeley for a summer camp, I met people from all over the world.  One of the people I met was named Moana, who was from Japan.  He surprised me when he said he was from Japan because he had an American accent, spoke English fluently, and knew about American culture to the point were he seemed like he was from America, even though he's spent most of his life in Japan.  It was so interesting that his culture, and our culture were exactly the same, that places in the world aren't as different as they seem.
